The Institute offers three major programs each year:
The three-day Fall Conference includes speakers and battlefield excursions on interesting topics relating to the campaign (members only).
The one-day Spring Symposium involves a series of timely talks and interactions on the campaign (members only).
The weekly Summer Lecture Series features historians and researchers presenting their work on the campaign and the war (open to the public).
The theme of 2023’s conference was “Prelude to Antietam: Forcing the South Mountain Gaps” and features a number of unique lectures and battlefield excursions.
2023 Fall Conference

Registration for the 2023 Fall Conference will open on April 22, 2023 and will close on September 27, 2023. This is a members-only event.
The one-day Spring Symposium will showcase some of the latest research and scholarship of the Maryland Campaign.
2024 Spring Symposium
April 12-13, 2024
The theme for our Spring Symposium is After Antietam: The Final Acts. Registration will open on 27 October 2023. This is a members-only event.

These free lectures are held in McKinley Hall at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg every Monday evening at 7:00 pm, June through August, and are open to the public.
