The Antietam Institute is a member centered organization with a mission to educate the public on the critical importance of the Battle of Antietam and the 1862 Maryland Campaign: a major turning point of the Civil War that resulted directly in the Emancipation Proclamation. Learn more about the Institute.
The Antietam Institute offers a variety of informative, thought-provoking, and enjoyable events. Attendance is kept low to encourage close interaction between participants, speakers, and excursion leaders. Two programs are planned: the Fall Conference and Spring Symposium.
Institute publications help increase public understanding of the Maryland Campaign of 1862 and include the twice-yearly Antietam Journal and a series of new full length works.
Your membership entitles you to attend Institute events and receive discounts on Institute publications and merchandise. More importantly, by joining with us you make possible the larger missions of scholarship, education, and philanthropy.
- The 2021 Fall ConferenceThe Antietam Institute’s first Fall Conference was a HUGE success! In case you missed the conference, our intern from Shepherd University, Christian Webb helped write a review of the weekend’s activities along with photos provided by board member, Randy Short.
